In Ancient Greece and Rome, sapphires were thought to protect wearers from envy and harm. Also, in the Middle Ages, the clergy wore sapphires, which indicated a link between heaven and the gem. How to Wear Sapphire Sapphires are best paired with blue eyes or an outfit with blue in it. Alternatively, sapphires can be worn with gray-colored clothing so that the stones pop visually. When deciding on other jewelry to wear with sapphire, it’s best to avoid mixing other gemstones. Instead, opt for gold or silver jewelry that will enhance the look of your gems without stealing any attention away from them.
