MeisterSinger was Founded by a Self-Taught Watchmaker

In 1989, self-taught watchmaker Manfred Brassler, along with Klaus Botta, bought a watch company called ?Watch People? that produced a variety of different watches and timepieces. These watches were set at a fairly low price point and were made out of quartz, which is an inexpensive material. Brassler sold this company in 1999 in order to produce higher-end watches. By 2001, his new company, MeisterSinger, was formed. It has quickly become known throughout the world as a maker of high quality watches. Brassler named the company after the ?Meistersingers? (master singers) that were at the top of their singing professions in the Middle Ages.
