Wedding registries offer an easy way to let guests know what they can give you for a gift. It isn?t selfish to create a registry ? it makes your guests? lives much easier because they won?t need to scramble trying to find the perfect gift. They know that you?ll love whatever they choose because they selected it from your registry. As discussed in part one of our two-part series, however, there are some mistakes that you?ll want to avoid when putting together your registry. In this article, we?ll discuss five more mistakes you?ll want to avoid making:

Not Including Multiple Price Ranges

One of the biggest errors you can make when putting together your registry is to only include items that are in a certain price range. While it would be nice if your guests could help you pay for some of the more expensive items that you?re asking for, this isn?t always financially possible. By putting items at varying price points on your registry, you give everyone a chance to buy you something great.

Registering Only for Items You Need

Believe it or not, guests don?t necessarily always want to buy you something that you need. Some love to give gifts that are more whimsical than useful! Instead of encouraging these people to choose something different on their own, make their lives easier by including them on your registry. That way, those who do want to give you something useful will have options, and so will those who want to give you something a little more creative.

Not Advertising Your Registry

In order for your registry to be truly helpful, you need to let people know that it exists! Sure, it is customary to add the registry information to the bridal shower and wedding invitations. However, you should also include registry information on your wedding website. That way, people can access your registry anytime they need it. It?s far too easy to lose a paper invitation and if you don?t advertise the registry well enough, you may be fielding a lot of emails about it.

Failing to Maintain the Registry

Once you go through all the hard work of creating your registry, you may think that your job is done. This couldn?t be further from the truth! You?ll need to constantly maintain the registry throughout your engagement to make sure that everything is going well. For instance, after the bridal shower, the registry is often depleted, which means that wedding guests won?t necessarily have anything to buy. By updating it several times throughout the engagement, you?ll give guests plenty of options.

Waiting too Long to Express Your Thanks

Your guests helped you celebrate your wedding by buying you a great gift and being there for you on your big day. Now, it?s time to thank them! Make sure not to wait too long. Be sure to It?s advisable to send thank you notes shortly after you receiving gifts. Guests are happy to spend money, as long as you promptly show your gratitude. By avoiding these top mistakes, you?re sure to put together a great registry that will not only insure that you?ll get all the right gifts for your wedding, but that will also make the gift-giving process much easier on your guests.
